One of the recipes I love to make during summer are smoothies! There’s nothing quite like a cold smoothie on a hot summer day. Unfortunately, a lot of smoothies you can buy at places like Jamba are loaded in sugar and are high in carbs, fat and calories. When you make them at home, you can make them just as delicious with half the sugar and calories and significantly more protein. Below has been my go-to snack during work hours this summer. It’s cold, refreshing, filling and keeps my sweet tooth happy!
Ingredients:
1.5 servings frozen berries (I buy a big bag from Costco)
1 scoop chocolate protein powder (I used PEScience)
1 tbsp Nuts-N-More peanut butter (regular peanut butter works too)
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
Directions:
Mix all ingredients in a blender and enjoy!

Tips & Tricks:
-If you want a thicker smoothie, use less almond milk; however, I recommend having a high powered blender as it can be difficult to blend in a normal one.
-I make my smoothies the night before, place them in the freezer overnight, then bring them to work and place them in the refrigerator to thaw for a mid-afternoon snack.
-Feel free to top your smoothie bowl with whatever toppings you like!
