Hey everyone! Welcome to my second blog post and one I’m super excited about. I’ve posted pictures of this smoothie a couple of times on my Instagram page and a few of you have asked for the recipe. There’s a lot of variations that can be made from this recipe but I’m going to show you my favorite. This chocolate protein breakfast smoothie is my go-to breakfast for a number of reasons. 1) It’s super fast and easy to make. This is helpful when I’m running late to work and can drink it on the go. 2) It’s high in protein which keeps me full for the beginning of the morning until lunch. And 3) it’s DELICIOUS! This is my main reason it’s my go-to. It tastes like a Frosty from Wendy’s and definitely hits the spot and makes my morning that much better!
3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 1/2 scoops protein powder (I’ve been using Vanilla PEScience lately)
1 tbsp cacao powder
Pinch of cinnamon
2 frozen bananas, cut up in slices before freezing
Mix all ingredients in a blender and enjoy!
Tips & Tricks:
-I blend all of the ingredients except the bananas first and then add any additional almond milk needed for consistency.
-If you want a thicker smoothie, use less almond milk; however, I recommend having a high powered blender as it can be difficult to blend in a normal one.
-I typically drink my smoothie in a glass but you can also put it in a bowl and top with whatever toppings you’d like!
-You can also put the smoothie in the freezer for about 10-20 minutes for a thicker, more ice-cream like consistency; however, if you’re like me and can’t wait, this step isn’t necessary. 🙂
